Tesla has created a patent for autonomous vehicles and sold it to other manufacturers.
They understood the essence of network theory, and for autonomous driving to work, there.
needs to be more vertices to connect on the road, so by selling the patent, they propelled.
the future of autonomous driving forward.
According to Global Data, Japan is set to implement an autonomous driving system in 2023.
Also a report by Thomas Insights projects that the overall market for autonomous vehicles
will jump 36% to $37 billion by 2023. The environmental advantages of electric vehicles are
irrefutable, however, what about the societal and economic effects? The transition is worth
the struggle, just like when we transitioned from horse and carriage to the model T, we can
recover from it, but it is important to remain mindful of the amount of jobs that will be lost
because of autonomous driving. The consequences of autonomous driving are forecasted
to affect the job market, infrastructure, the economy, and living standards.
Residential and commercial buildings account for roughly 40% of energy consumption and
30% CO2 emissions in the United States. As a result, the environmental resilience institute
at the University of Virginia is attempting to achieve “net-zero buildings” to reduce our
carbon footprint. IoT technologies have been used to maintain these buildings and control
environmental impact, However, these IoT devices contribute to the “phantom energy
problem” where the amount of energy necessary to utilize these devices is more than some
small countries. In the process of making our world more interconnected, there are
obviously immense benefits, but also, one must be wary that there are also consequences
to this development. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. This proves true in
what’s next in media for IoT technology.
It can be difficult to not be overwhelmed by the break-neck speed with
which media & technology evolves, much more the ever-emerging news that
our latest company or product was up to no good and betraying our trust.
Perhaps it can even seem that despite all of the talk of future-focused innovation and
democratization for the good of all, companies are actually interested in short-term gains
and making shareholders happy. Media and technology is not inherently unethical. The
problem is the lack of transparency and the boundaries between consumers and companies.
being drawn by the companies themselves.
When the owners of the products and services that we all use are the ones owning the
machines of production, the data centers, the media platforms, and setting the prices we
are justified in feeling like our trust has been breached. Yet, things do not have to be this
way.
We operate under the assumption that media and technology can be tools for the wellbeing
of all. Through this report, we display the important trends in media and technology, as well
as their various shortcomings, with the hope that it can kickstart the action needed to make
these tools functional towards an equal
